The
third season of the Cortland Main Street Music
Series begins Friday, July 8 at 5:30 PM. The
six-week series is FREE and open to the public every
Friday in
the Marketplace Mall parking lot, 64 Main Street Cortland.
The upcoming season features an exciting lineup of local,
regional and national acts.
GRAMMY-nominated and SAMMY Award winning Joe Whiting
and his band will kick off the season with local favorite
Mickey Sometimes. July 15 will feature local
musicians playing a variety of styles, including Bush
Pilot, Steve Morgan, Michael Mazochi, Sandra Scholz,
and Hurtin' Units. Next in line on July 22 will be
Syracuse-based Grupo Pagan with their blend of Latin Rock,
along with Cortland's own Shadowbox. This
year's SAMMY Award Winner Dave Hanlon's Cookbook and The
Travis Rocco band will share the stage on July 29
for a night of R&B and rock.
On August 5 the internationally famous Alex Skolnick Trio
will perform
their "refreshing and surprising new voice of
improvisation" -- jazz that uses heavy metal songs as
standards! As if that isn't enough, sharing the
stage
with the Trio will be the Syracuse-based jazz duo The
Intention, with Mark Nanni on piano and vocals and David
Salce on drums. Closing out this season's
series on August 12 once again will be the world-renowned
Charlie Bertini and his jazz band.
This
summer's series promises to be the most exciting ever --
see you there!
