Chamber Showcase to Feature Mrs. McPuppet

Cortland, NY – Elizabeth McMahon, a.k.a. “Mrs. McPuppet,” will bring her award winning talents to the Cortland County Business Showcase on Saturday, May 7, at the new J.M. McDonald Sports Complex.

A 2000 Parent Choice Award Winner who has been performing in schools and museums throughout New York State for the past 15 years, McMahon has received grants from New York Foundation for the Arts and was the 2000 recipient of the Recommended Parent's Choice award for her recording, "Waltzing with Fireflies." All dressed up for the occasion, Mrs. McPuppet brings with her wicker baskets and well-traveled suitcases full of puppets and costumes for a bit of theatrics, music, and fun. Each year, new songs, skits, and puppets are added to the repertoire.

McMahon has never let go of the artistic spirit she had as a child.  With her feet firmly planted in the arts, she has been a painter, a puppeteer, and a singer-songwriter, shifting her focus to wherever she can communicate the best.  At the heart of the performances is her original music, whimsical, melodic, and memorable, songs that can be enjoyed again and again. “We’re very happy to have Mrs. McPuppet agree to participate in the showcase,” said Chamber Executive Director Garry VanGorder. “We’re really trying to reach out to children with some new attractions this year, and I’m confident this will be a big hit.”

Mrs. McPuppet will perform from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Admission to the Showcase is $3 per person, with children younger than 10 admitted free of charge.
