CORTLAND TO HOST 64TH ANNUAL NORTH-SOUTH ALL-STAR LACROSSE GAMES

The SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex has been selected as the site of the 64th Annual United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-Star Games. The event will take place on Saturday, June 11th, 2005, according to John Spring, director of the annual event.

Spring, who has been working with the Cortland Regional Sports Council and SUNY Cortland to finalize the event, said that the annual USILA banquet will be held on Friday evening, June 10th, in the SUNY Cortland Corey Union Function Room. More than 500 people will attend the banquet, which honors All-Americans from NCAA Divisions I, II and III, the North-South participants, scholar athletes and other award winners.

On Saturday, the NCAA Division III senior all-stars will play at noon, followed by the NCAA Division I all-star game at 3pm.

“In my 6 years of organizing the North-South games, I think the SUNY Cortland Sports Complex is the finest lacrosse facility we will have play in,” said Spring. “The Cortland Regional Sports Council and SUNY Cortland have been very supportive. It should be an exciting collegiate lacrosse weekend on a campus that has produced a significant number of the most successful lacrosse coaches in the nation.”

“This will be a great event not only for the Cortland community, but all of Central New York,” added Joe Reagan, the Cortland Regional Sports Council chair who played on four national champion lacrosse teams at Hobart College in the 1980’s. “Besides having the outstanding lacrosse complex, Cortland is right off the Interstate and a few hours drive for most lacrosse fans in the East.”
