CHAMBER PROGRAM OFFERS ADVICE COST-SAVING “HSA” ACCOUNTS

Cortland, NY – A Thursday, April 22 morning seminar will focus on how people may save money on health insurance premiums by using newly authorized “Health Savings Accounts.”
Sponsored by the Cortland County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Tompkins Trust Company, the seminar runs from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at the Hampton Inn & Suites and is free to Chamber members. Admission is $5 for non-members. Tom Surowka, a principal of the BRG Trust of Central New York, will present along with a representative of Support Services Alliance, Inc. The BRG Trust manages the Chamber’s health benefits program.
“Recent federal legislation has made it possible for people to set up tax-free individual trustee accounts as a creative way to manage – and possibly lower – their health care costs,” said Chamber executive director Garry VanGorder. “That’s an important topic in this day and age, and we thought our members would be interested in hearing how it all works.”
Interested parties should register in advance by calling the Chamber at 756-2814.
