101 businesses Added to Chamber's Membership rolls.
The Cortland County Chamber of Commerce wrapped up its community awareness program last week with the addition of 101 businesses to its membership rolls. Overall membership now stands at 530 – about 65 percent of the active Cortland County business community.
“We’re obviously very pleased with the campaign, because it tells us people continue to see real value in a Chamber investment,” said executive director Garry VanGorder. “They understand that Chamber dues are not a charitable contribution, but an investment in their business.”
The Cortland Chamber offers its members access to lower cost health coverage, a commercial energy savings program, a 401k program, and an exclusive listing in its widely distributed membership and buyer’s guide. The Chamber also coordinates the annual business showcase, an annual golf tournament and clambake, and numerous networking and educational programs throughout the year. It is an active advocate for the business community and is the primary source of business referrals in Cortland County.
Last week’s campaign was conducted by Chamber board members and community volunteers under the guidance of Chamber Development Services, a Dallas, Texas firm that specializes in Chamber recruitment programs.
“Aside from bolstering the membership, this campaign really galvanized our board and educated our volunteers,” VanGorder said. “The Chamber isn’t just getting bigger, it’s getting better, and we’re all excited about the prospects for the future.”
