About Us

Our Mission statement:
The Cortland County Chamber of Commerce exists to promote the free enterprise system.  The mission is to create a better understanding and appreciation of the importance of business and its role in the community.  This is accomplished by promoting the value of personal investment in the community’s advancement, the promotion of community growth and development, and the community’s social, civic, and cultural facilities.

History:
The Cortland County Chamber of Commerce was formed on November 12, 1903 as the Cortland Board of Trade. In 1911 the Board of Trade changed its name to the Chamber of Commerce which joined the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 1913. The Chamber' s articles of incorporation were approved in 1945 and their name was then changed to the Cortland County Chamber of Commerce, Inc. In 1966, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce accredited the Cortland Chamber as one of only three chambers accredited in New York State.
