Chill-A-Bration chili cook-off

Cortland --Entries are now being accepted for the 2010 Chill-A-Bration chili cook-off, scheduled for Saturday, February 27 at Courthouse Park in downtown Cortland. Presented by the Cortland County Chamber of Commerce, the cook-off is just part of a broader schedule of events being organized by the Cortland Downtown Partnership.

Running from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the cook-off will earn contestants awards for best traditional and best non-traditional chili in each of two categories after judging by an independent panel. An award for best overall chili will also be presented. Entry categories are:

*Professional /Food Service (restaurants, pubs, caterers, nursing homes, and college dining)
*Non Food Service (Churches, Fire Houses, Police, Fraternal Organizations, General business)

"This is the third year for the cook-off and the overall Chill-A-Bration, and the Chamber is looking forward to increasing the chili entries for this family friendly event," said Cortland County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bob Haight."The public will be able to vote for their favorite in the People’s Choice award so encourage all your supporters to come and vote."

Participants will offer their favorite chili recipes to a crowd that can taste them while taking in other events going on nearby including a ski terrain park, snow sculpting, snowboard demonstrations, and a host of other wintertime activities.

Tickets for the tasting will be available at the front gate, and legal beverages will be available in partnership with the Cortland County Tavern and Restaurant Association and the Cortland Beer Company.
